Basketball Game Preview: Florence Huskies vs. La Junta Tigers

The Florence Huskies will square off against the La Junta Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Florence hasn't scored more than 21 points for three games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.

Florence is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Salida on Wednesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Florence was dealt a 64-18 loss at the hands of Salida. The Huskies were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-4.

Meanwhile, La Junta came up short against Ellicott on Wednesday and fell 41-29. The defeat continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Thunderhawks: they've now lost six in a row.

La Junta now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Florence, their loss dropped their record down to 7-13.

Florence came up short against La Junta in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 35-27. Can Florence avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
