Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Makai Allen and Callen Tollestrup Lead Provo to Victory

Provo waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They strolled past the Brighton Bengals with points to spare, taking the game 62-44. The score was all tied up 27-27 at the break, but the Bulldogs were the (much) better team in the second half.

Leading Provo to victory were Callen Tollestrup and Makai Allen. Tollestrup shot 50% from the field to rack up 28 points and seven rebounds, while Allen went 8-for-18 on his way to 20 points and eight boards. The matchup was Tollestrup's seventh in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Castagnetto, who posted five points and five boards.

Provo smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. They are 3-1 when they hit their own glass that hard.

Brighton's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cruz Cowan, who had 16 points. Cooper Anderson also deserves some recognition as he posted his first blocks of the season.

Provo now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Brighton, they moved to 3-2 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Provo will host American Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will need to watch out since the Patriots have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Brighton, they will challenge Wasatch at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
