Basketball Recap: Calvert's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Calvert can now relate to. They fell to the Kalida Wildcats 36-30. While losing is never fun, the Senecas can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 205th in Ohio, while the Wildcats are ranked 97th in Ohio).

Meredith Bockrath was the offensive standout of the game as she posted 14 points along with six steals and five boards. That's the most steals she has posted since back in December of 2024. Ady Miller also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

The defeat snapped Calvert's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 21-5 record. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points over those games. As for Kalida, they have been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season.

Calvert does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Kalida, they will face off against Ottoville at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Ottoville comes in on ten and Kalida on 12.
