Basketball Recap: 15 Straight Home Wins for Hampton Christian Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hampton Christian Academy). They breezed by the Portsmouth Christian Patriots to the tune of 66-35 on Friday. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 26 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hampton Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mahdy Sigler, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 27 rebounds. With that strong performance, Sigler is now averaging an impressive 2.2 blocks per game. Another player making a difference was Jayla Crosby, who went 8 of 19 en route to 24 points along with seven boards and five assists.

Hampton Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

When it comes to explaining why Portsmouth Christian lost, don't look at Cloee Comberiati. Despite the final result, she posted 14 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals.

Hampton Christian Academy's win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 27.2 points. As for Portsmouth Christian, they moved to 3-2 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

After both having extra time off, Hampton Christian Academy and Denbigh Baptist Christian will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Portsmouth Christian, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 43-14 defeat against Greenbrier Christian Academy on the 17th.
