Basketball Recap: Trego Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Trego can now relate to. They were outmatched by the Ellinwood Eagles and fell 62-29. The match marked the Golden Eagles' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

It was another big night for Landon Simpson, who went 12-for-17 on his way to 33 points and three steals for Ellinwood. Simpson's big performance that evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Campbell Coleman, who posted six points and seven boards.

Trego dropped their record down to 9-12 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for Ellinwood, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season.

Trego does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ellinwood, they will square off against Syracuse at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
