Baseball Recap: Lehigh Takes a Loss

Lehigh extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 18 on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-4. They lost 16-0 to the Oasis Sharks. The Lightning were not able to make up for their defeat to the Sharks from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

As for Oasis, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1. While they didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

For Oasis' part, Preston Baty looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Baty has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Anthony Avila was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI and one double. Jayden Shrider was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Lehigh will look to takes advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they takes on Estero at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Oasis, they will take on Aubrey Rogers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Sharks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season.
