Basketball Recap: Pinecrest Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Michael Lynch and Colton Reilly

Pinecrest Academy lost against Lanier Christian Academy back in February of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Paladins came up short against the Lightning, falling 65-39. The matchup marked the Paladins' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Pinecrest Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Colton Reilly, who posted seven points and 12 boards, and Michael Lynch, who earned 16 points and seven rebounds. The contest was Lynch's sixth in a row with at least 16 points. Luke Sacco also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Mekhi Barber was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds for Lanier Christian Academy. What's more, Barber racked up six assists, the most he's had since back in January. Another player making a difference was Xavier Barber, who went 5-for-9 en route to 12 points and five steals.

Pinecrest Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season. As for Lanier Christian Academy, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-5.

Pinecrest Academy will take on Victory Baptist in a holiday battle at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lanier Christian Academy and Johnson Ferry Christian Academy will compete for holiday cheer at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
