Basketball Game Preview: Rowan County Vikings vs. Blazer Tomcats

The Rowan County Vikings will take on the Blazer Tomcats in a tournament on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Rowan County comes in on six and Blazer on nine.

Rowan County can't be too worried about heading out to take on Blazer: they just beat Raceland at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. Rowan County walked away with a 51-41 win over Raceland on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Blazer blew past Elliott County, posting a 77-38 victory. The Tomcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 20 points or more this season.

Blazer pushed their record up to 23-7 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.6 points over those games. As for Rowan County, their victory bumped their record up to 15-13.

Rowan County came up short against Blazer in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 56-46. Can Rowan County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
