Softball Recap: Voyager Academy Comes Up Short

Voyager Academy was the 11-1 winner over Riverside-Durham when they last played one another back in March of 2018, but their luck changed this time around. The Voyager Academy Vikings lost 17-4 to the Riverside-Durham Pirates on Wednesday. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Maleyva Pardo and Lainey Higdon did some serious damage despite the final result: Pardo scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Higdon scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Voyager Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Riverside-Durham, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Voyager Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Roxboro Community at 5:00 p.m. on April 11th. As for Riverside-Durham, they are taking a road trip to take on Carrboro at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
