Shiprock won the last time they faced Bloomfield and things went their way on Thursday too. The Chieftains walked away with a 3-1 win over the Bobcats. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Chieftains.

Shiprock had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-19.

Taleah Phillips paced Shiprock's offense, picking up 17 kills. Phillips got some help from Yonna Etcitty and her 22 assists. Finally, Orie Lowe kept Shiprock's defense grounded, leading the team with 12 blocks.

Shiprock's victory bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Bloomfield, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-12.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Shiprock will take on rival Kirtland Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Bloomfield is set to challenge their familiar foe Aztec at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
