The Dixie Flyers will square off against the American Fork Cavemen at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Dixie is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
Dixie will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Saturday, then bounced right back against East on Saturday. Dixie blew past East 12-2. Considering the Flyers have won four contests by more than nine runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Jordan Andreas spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on three hits.
On the hitting side, Carson Hunt was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Carter Turley was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Dixie always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, American Fork posted their closest victory since May 7, 2024 last Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Desert Oasis, sneaking past 8-7. The win continues a trend for the Cavemen in their matchups with the Diamondbacks: they've now won three in a row.
The team relied heavily on CJ Mascaro, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Brandon Upham, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Dixie pushed their record up to 6-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for American Fork, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.
Dixie skirted past American Fork 5-4 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Does Dixie have another victory up their sleeve, or will American Fork turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
