Softball Recap: Gaston Christian Comes Up Short

Gaston Christian fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Greater Cabarrus S on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Stallions by a score of 6-5.

Bailey Livengood put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Livengood wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lana Hanson, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Kendall Jones was another, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Gaston Christian dropped their record down to 2-7 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Greater Cabarrus S, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-8 record this season.

Gaston Christian has already played their next contest (against Concord Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Greater Cabarrus S, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 15-0 win against SouthLake Christian Academy on the 14th.
