Baseball Recap: Miami Valley Christian Academy Has No Trouble Against Clermont Northeastern

Miami Valley Christian Academy won the last time they faced Clermont Northeastern and things went their way on Saturday too. The Lions put the hurt on the Rockets with a sharp 13-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won six contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Luke Autry made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Autry was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Owen Nickum was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Max Simon, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

Miami Valley Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Clermont Northeastern only posted an OBP of .348.

Miami Valley Christian Academy pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Clermont Northeastern, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season.

Miami Valley Christian Academy will head out on the road to challenge Goshen at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Clermont Northeastern, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Blanchester at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
