Volleyball Recap: Casteel Takes Down Ranked Higley

Casteel faced Higley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Colts won by a set and slipped past the Knights 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Colts have posted against the Knights since April 28, 2022.

Casteel had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 26-28, 25-23, 25-21, 15-10.

Casteel found their leader in sophomore Will Schneiderman, who had 23 digs and eight assists. Schneiderman has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last eight times he's played. Maddox Young also deserves some recognition as he served his first ace of the season.

Despite the loss, Higley still got an impressive performance from Britton Skousen, who had 25 digs and three assists.

The win was the fourth in a row for Casteel, bringing their record up to 23-10-1. As for Higley, their loss dropped their record down to 20-5-2.

Casteel wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-2 victory against Chandler on the 17th. As for Higley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Queen Creek on the 17th.
