Softball Recap: Metcalfe County Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Metcalfe County had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Caverna Colonels. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hornets have posted since March 30th.

Rory Bragg spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Metcalfe County saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Groce, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Metcalfe County's record is now 7-17. As for Caverna, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-15 record this season.

Metcalfe County will challenge Grayson County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Caverna, they will welcome Adair County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
