Basketball Game Preview: Marquette Catholic Blazers vs. Tippecanoe Valley Vikings

The Marquette Catholic Blazers and the Tippecanoe Valley Vikings will round out the year against one another at at 11:45 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Marquette Catholic sitting on ten straight victories and Tippecanoe Valley on three.

Marquette Catholic is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Westville: they outscored them in every quarter. Marquette Catholic put the hurt on Westville with a sharp 64-42 win on Friday. The Blazers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Marquette Catholic's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Laniah Davis, who went 8 of 14 on her way to 18 points and five rebounds. Davis' evening made it seven games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Penziol, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 15 points.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tippecanoe Valley). They blew past Western 58-37 last Monday. The score was all tied up 27-27 at the break, but the Vikings were the (much) better team in the second half.

Marquette Catholic's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 39.8 points. As for Tippecanoe Valley, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
