Basketball Recap: Cala Haffner's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Carroll over Bellmont

Carroll was the 69-25 winner over Bellmont when they last played one another back in January of 2015, but their luck changed this time around. The Carroll Chargers took a 52-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bellmont Braves on Tuesday.

Several Chargers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cala Haffner, who posted 12 points and three steals. Lily George was another key player, putting up ten points.

Carroll's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Bellmont, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-1.

Carroll and Bellmont should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. Carroll (ranked 45th) will meet Fort Wayne Wayne (ranked 138th) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Carroll is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.9 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Bellmont (ranked 28th) will meet New Haven (ranked 346th) at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
