Softball Recap: St. Bernard Triumphs

St. Bernard won the last time they faced Bacon Academy and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Saints sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Bobcats. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Saints.

Anabelle Wenzel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on seven hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, St. Bernard saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lena Byers, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

St. Bernard's win bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Bacon Academy, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-8.

Coming up, St. Bernard will be playing in front of their home fans against Montville at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Saints' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolves have averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season. As for Bacon Academy, they are taking a road trip to challenge Stonington at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
