The Gilbert Christian Knights will square off against the Northwest Christian Crusaders at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Gilbert Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.

Gilbert Christian is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Yuma Catholic on Wednesday. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Shamrocks. The Knights' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Caleb Johnson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had over his last four matches.

Meanwhile, Northwest Christian had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. Everything went their way against the Warriors as they made off with an 8-1 victory. Considering the Crusaders have won eight games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Northwest Christian's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Gilbert Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-8.
