Softball Recap: Southeast Drops Highest Score of Season Against Brookfield

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Southeast). They blew past the Brookfield Warriors 17-1 on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Morgan Muncy was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Muncy was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Lilly Hayes and Ava Stephens did most of the damage at the plate: Hayes went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Stephens went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailey Morris, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Southeast is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Brookfield, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Looking ahead, Southeast will welcome United at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Brookfield, they are taking a road trip to challenge Liberty at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
