Basketball Recap: Monticello Comes Up Short

If Monticello was riding high fresh off their 40-18 takedown of Ridgeview on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Monticello Sages fell 56-44 to the Tri-Valley Vikings on Thursday. The Sages have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Monticello saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Sarah Cresap went 7 for 11 on her way to 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cresap has scored all season. Megan Allen was another key player, putting up six points and 12 rebounds.

Monticello now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Tri-Valley, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-3.

Monticello wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 56-53 win against Tuscola on the 27th. As for Tri-Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 58-22 victory against Ridgeview on the 27th.
