Baseball Recap: Vista Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

With a playoff win on the line, Vista rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Mater Dei Catholic Crusaders by a score of 10-7. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Crusaders: they've now won three in a row.

Vista got a great performance from Trent Dodson as he pitched six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits. Dodson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brandyn Ketcher was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Aadyn Thomason was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one double.

Vista's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-9. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Mater Dei Catholic, the defeat snapped their winning streak at seven games and leaves them with a 15-14 record.

Vista didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 12-2 loss against Calexico on the 21st. Mater Dei Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
