Basketball Game Preview: Cortez Colts vs. Coronado Dons

The Cortez Colts will venture away from home to take on the Coronado Dons at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Cortez is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game back in December of 2024. They were outmatched by Thunderbird and fell 80-20. The game marked the Colts' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, Coronado had to suffer through a 62-18 loss at the hands of South Mountain.

Zariah Tsosie was Coronado's leading scorer, having posted six points. Jayda Begay held things down on the boards with nine rebounds.

Cortez's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Coronado, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Cortez beat Coronado 47-38 in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Will Cortez repeat their success, or does Coronado have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
