Softball Recap: Highland Tech's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

Highland Tech fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Forestview on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jaguars. The match marked the Rams' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Makaylee Gantt spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Meredith Bolick made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and one double. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played.

The defeat snapped Highland Tech's winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 13-6 record. As for Forestview, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record this season.

Highland Tech does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Forestview, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 17-0 victory against Ashbrook on the 2nd.
