Baseball Game Preview: Lewisville Lions vs. Chesterfield Golden Rams

The Lewisville Lions will venture away from home to challenge the Chesterfield Golden Rams at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Lewisville's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Chesterfield's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Lewisville is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Central just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 7-4 to the Eagles.

Meanwhile, Chesterfield waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Stallions as they made off with a 15-0 win. That 15 run margin sets a new team best for the Golden Rams this season.

Brody Banasiewicz and Rocket Watford made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Banasiewicz pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Watford pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Chesterfield is undefeated when Watford allows one or fewer hits, but 4-5 otherwise. At the plate, Banasiewicz went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Watford went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Banasiewicz has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Max Gulledge, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bryce Adams, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Chesterfield hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lee Central struck out seven times.

Lewisville's loss dropped their record down to 11-3. As for Chesterfield, their record is now 7-5.

Lewisville took their victory against Chesterfield in their previous meeting back in March of 2023 by a conclusive 13-1 score. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Golden Rams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
