Softball Game Preview: Mather Rangers vs. Senn Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Mather will face off against Senn. The Rangers will square off against the Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Mather has given up an average of 6.8 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Mather is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest defeat since April 11th on Wednesday. They came up short against Senn, falling 16-3. The Rangers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Senn's part, Audrey Lebovitz made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). Lebovitz has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, six RBI, and three doubles. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Ericka Ako was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Pippa Gerharz, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with five stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.

Senn was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .357 or higher in six consecutive matches.

Senn pushed their record up to 10-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Mather, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.
