League recap: Mansfield Senior tops Madison Comprehensive to extend winning streak

Adding to the longest winning streak in Ohio Cardinal this week, Mansfield Senior beat Madison Comprehensive 45-16. This was the team's 10th consecutive win.

Clear Fork moved up to 136 from 165 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Colts climbed the ranks as a result of beating West Holmes 42-13.

Ashland's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Nick Zurcher threw for 262 and 5 touchdowns and Jacob Allton had 114 yards receiving. On the ground Zurcher chipped in 106 yards. Max Stringer helped Ashland's passing attack out by catching 6 balls for 109 yards.

He went 18-23 with 0 interceptions.

Zurcher was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 106 yards on 16 carries as the Arrows defeated Lexington. Teammate Allton added to the ground attack by rushing for 78 yards.

Ashland's Zurcher and Allton led Ohio Cardinal in both passing and receiving yards. 6-2 quarterback Zurcher has thrown for 2,547 yards this season, while Allton has 74 catches for 960 yards. The Knights' Layne Perone leads the league in rushing yards with 1,536.

Going into this week's contest against Licking Heights, Mansfield Senior's Jalen Reese needs 42 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season. So far this year, Reese has thrown for 1,958 yards with 18 touchdowns and 4 interceptions.

So far this year, he has acheived 74 catches for 960 yards.

Wooster led the league in scoring this week after putting up 56 points on Orrville.
