Basketball Game Preview: Spanish River Sharks vs. Park Vista Cobras

Having just played yesterday, the Spanish River Sharks will head out on the road to face off against the Park Vista Cobras at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Spanish River is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.

On Wednesday, Spanish River was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 32-28 to Wellington. While losing is never fun, the Sharks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 476th, while the Wolverines are ranked 220th).

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Park Vista over Leonard in every quarter on their way to victory back in December of 2024. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Park Vista blew Leonard out of the water with a 56-19 final score. With the Cobras ahead 39-7 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Park Vista found their leader in freshman Tyaiwana Ousley, who posted 21 points and three steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Ousley has scored at least a third of Park Vista's points. Marlenny Hernandez was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Spanish River's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Park Vista, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Spanish River came up short against Park Vista when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 67-60. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Ousley, who dropped a triple-double on 42 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 steals. Now that Spanish River knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
