Recap: South Johnston Trojans vs. Southern Wayne Saints
The South Johnston Trojans waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They were the clear victor by a 45-22 margin over Southern Wayne. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory South Johnston has posted yet this season.
South Johnston's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lannah Price, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Grey Thornton, who scored 12 points.
Kymora Stokes and Jaycee Hargrove certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Stokes scored seven points, while Hargrove scored five points.
South Johnston's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-8. As for Southern Wayne, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-11.
South Johnston will head out on the road to square off against Smithfield-Selma at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Southern Wayne, they will be playing at home against East Wake at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
