Volleyball Game Preview: Ellsworth Bearcats vs. Beloit Trojans

Ellsworth hasn't had much luck against Beloit recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Bearcats will take on the Trojans at 2:00 p.m. Ellsworth is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

On Monday, Ellsworth beat Goodland 2-0.

Ellsworth never let Goodland on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-16.

Ellsworth can attribute much of their success to Kelli Rodriguez, who had 14 digs. That's the most digs Rodriguez has posted over her last eight matchups.

Meanwhile, Beloit and Hoisington squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Beloit had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 2-1.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Beloit sadly dropped the once that decided the match. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 15-25, 25-19.

Ellsworth will have to contain Mckenna Channell as she made an impact in Beloit's last game. She had 14 digs and two aces.

Beloit's loss dropped their record down to 29-9. As for Ellsworth, their win bumped their record up to 30-8.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Saturday's match: Ellsworth has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 4.8 aces per game.
