Canyon View had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 45.3 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They breezed by the Verrado Vipers to the tune of 71-20. Given the Jaguars' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while the Vipers are ranked 223rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Canyon View is also on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.8 points per game. As for Verrado, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.

Canyon View will have a chance to go back-to-back against Verrado: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
