Basketball Game Preview: Cambridge City Lincoln Golden Eagles vs. Northeastern Knights

Cambridge City Lincoln is 0-10 against Northeastern since January of 2017 but things could change on Thursday. The Cambridge City Lincoln Golden Eagles will look to defend their home court against the Northeastern Knights at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Friday, Cambridge City Lincoln came up short against Monroe Central and fell 65-56.

Meanwhile, Northeastern put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Victory College Prep 77-45. The Knights' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Cambridge City Lincoln better keep an eye on Noah Payne. He was instrumental in Northeastern's win, going 11 of 14 on his way to 23 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. Payne is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam White, who went 8 for 10 on his way to 18 points and seven rebounds.

Northeastern pushed their record up to 11-0 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Cambridge City Lincoln, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-2.

Cambridge City Lincoln took a serious blow against Northeastern when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 78-45. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Northeastern's Landon Scarrette, who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine assists.
