Basketball Recap: Northland Christian Cougars vs. Westbury Christian Wildcats
The Northland Christian Cougars were the 32-25 winner over the Westbury Christian Wildcats when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Northland Christian ended up on the wrong side of a rough 56-36 walloping at the hands of the Wildcats on Tuesday. Northland Christian has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Northland Christian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Gabby White, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals. That was a full 41.7% of Northland Christian's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Savannah Hardwick was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with two steals.
Northland Christian struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Northland Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Westbury Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season.
Northland Christian will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Faith West Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 13 points in their last five games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. Westbury Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
