Recap: Clayton Comets vs. Cleveland Rams

Even though the Clayton Comets have not done well against the Cleveland Rams recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Clayton blew past Cleveland 80-56. Given Clayton's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while Cleveland is ranked 306th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Justice Mitchell continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 19 points along with nine rebounds. He hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Andrew Grimes, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Cleveland lost, one person who can't be blamed is Rodney Poston. Despite the final result, he scored 14 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of James Harris, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.

Clayton pushed their record up to 13-4 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.8 points per game. As for Cleveland, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-9.

Coincidentally, Clayton and Cleveland will both be playing Willow Spring the next time they take the court. Cleveland will head out to face Willow Spring at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while Clayton will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
