Baseball Recap: Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial Takes a Loss

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping their season record down to 7-19 in the process. They lost 8-0 to the Rowe Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 on Tuesday.

As for Rowe, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games.

For Rowe's part, Matthew Garza made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Garza has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Isais Ledezma, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Alex Leon was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Rowe, they will challenge Weslaco East at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Warriors surely won't give up without a fight.
