Baseball Recap: Saturday's Victory Is Highland's Ninth in Last Ten Outings

Highland posted their closest win since March 28th on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the St. Albans Bulldogs 4-3.

Grayson Coppage tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Joey Rogers, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Jake Gunning, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.

Highland has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for St. Albans, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-12.

Highland didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 9-0 win against Benedictine on the 14th. As for St. Albans, they will venture away from home to face off against Episcopal at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
