Basketball Recap: Conestoga Cougars vs. Arlington Eagles
The Conestoga Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 13th straight defeat. They were beaten by Arlington 52-17. Conestoga was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-9.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Danielle Ahrens, who scored six points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Davida Garrett, who scored five points along with eight rebounds and six steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Conestoga struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Arlington racked up 13 assists.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Arlington to victory, but perhaps none more so than Emerson Timm, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Another player making a difference was Taylor Arp, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Conestoga dropped their record down to 2-16 with that defeat, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Arlington, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Conestoga will take on the Falcon at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Douglas County West presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Cougars in Nebraska (the Falcon are ranked 121st, while the Cougars are ranked 257th). As for Arlington, they will be playing at home against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
