After a string of three wins, the Marionville Comets's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. Their rough 75-50 loss to Clever might stick with them for a while. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Marionville has suffered yet this season.
When it comes to explaining why Marionville lost, one person who can't be blamed is Lucy Newberry. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 32 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Newberry has scored all season.
Marionville's loss dropped their record down to 14-4. As for Clever, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marionville will challenge Sarcoxie at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Clever, they will head out on the road to take on Fair Grove at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Fair Grove will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak alive.
