Soccer Game Preview: Pecos vs. Liberty

The Pecos Eagles are taking a road trip to square off against the Liberty Patriots at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

Pecos lost 5-2 to Lake View on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 521st, while the Chiefs are ranked 182nd).

Liberty fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They had just enough and edged Sweetwater out 2-1. That's two games straight that the Patriots have won by just one goal.

Liberty's victory bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Pecos, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2-1.

Everything went Pecos' way against Liberty in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Pecos made off with a 6-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pecos since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
