Softball Recap: Mountainside Gets the Win

Mountainside lost to Sunset back in April, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The Mavericks came out on top against the Apollos by a score of 5-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mavericks.

Jojo Appling spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Aubri Kruhm was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Ainsley Arbow was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Mountainside's win bumped their record up to 13-10. As for Sunset, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-4.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Mountainside will take on rival Aloha at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Sunset is set to challenge their familiar foe Westview at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
