Softball Game Preview: Lincoln Railsplitters vs. Mt. Zion Braves

The Lincoln Railsplitters will head out on the road to challenge the Mt. Zion Braves at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mt. Zion took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Lincoln, who comes in off a win.

Lincoln barely beat Normal West the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Railsplitters never let the Wildcats get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Railsplitters.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Mt. Zion's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of Tolono Unity by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Braves couldn't push the score so high this time.

Lincoln now has a winning record of 14-13. As for Mt. Zion, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-7.

Lincoln couldn't quite finish off Mt. Zion when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 7-5. Can the Railsplitters avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
