Softball Game Preview: Buena Park Coyotes vs. Lakeside Lancers

The Buena Park Coyotes will head out to take on the Lakeside Lancers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Last Wednesday, Buena Park came up short against Valencia and fell 5-2.

Buena Park saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mia Gonzalez, who went 2-for-3 with one double. Lily Phillips also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Lakeside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of Citrus Hill. That's two games in a row now that the Lancers have lost by just one run.

Michaela Alverado and Savana Swick did some serious damage despite the final result: Alverado went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double, while Swick went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Reese Fisher, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Buena Park's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Lakeside, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.

Buena Park beat Lakeside 8-3 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Do the Coyotes have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lancers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
