Preview: Rancho Cotate Cougars vs. Granada Matadors

Two dominant signal callers in Jacob Pruitt and Quinn Boyd are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Rancho Cotate Cougars are on the road again on Friday and play against the Granada Matadors at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Rancho Cotate is ranked 246th, while Granada is ranked 239th).
Last Friday, while Rancho Cotate put up plenty of points, the same can't be said for Santa Rosa. Rancho Cotate took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 42-0 victory over Santa Rosa. Rancho Cotate pushed the score to 35-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Santa Rosa had no chance of recovering from.
Rancho Cotate's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Geovanny Ortiz led the charge by rushing for 153 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. Ortiz hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for five straight games. Pruitt was another major influence, as he rushed for 79 yards and ran in a TD.
Granada never got on the board in their matchup back in October, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Livermore last Friday. They walked away with a 35-25 victory over the Cowboys.
Granada got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Peyton Richards out in front who picked up 159 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Boyd was another key player, having thrown for 321 yards and two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Rancho Cotate to 6-4 and Granada to 7-3.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Friday's game as both teams haven't had much trouble getting there this season. Rancho Cotate commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 4.5 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Granada struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.5 per game. With these two high-octane teams facing off on Friday, fans should be in for an exciting offensive matchup. Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other football content.
Everything came up roses for Rancho Cotate against Granada when the teams last played back in November of 2021 as the squad secured a 37-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rancho Cotate since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
