Basketball Game Preview: Grace Academy Knights vs. GVCS Broadfording Lions

Grace Academy hasn't had much luck against GVCS Broadfording recently, but that could start to change on Friday. Having just played yesterday, the Grace Academy Knights will head out on the road to face off against the GVCS Broadfording Lions at 8:30 p.m.

Grace Academy is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Heritage Academy on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Grace Academy took a blow against Heritage Academy, falling 81-25. The Knights were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-14.

Meanwhile, GVCS Broadfording had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.3 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They breezed by the Spartans to the tune of 71-35. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 21 points or more this season.

GVCS Broadfording found their leader in sophomore Fernando Garcia, who went 8 for 13 on his way to 23 points and five steals. The contest was Garcia's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Nashon Mann, who went 7 of 14 en route to 15 points.

GVCS Broadfording smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

This is the second loss in a row for Grace Academy and nudges their season record down to 2-5. As for GVCS Broadfording, their victory bumped their record up to 10-6.

Grace Academy suffered a grim 67-46 defeat to GVCS Broadfording in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Can Grace Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
