Basketball Recap: Dawson Springs Drops Season-High Score on Heritage Christian Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dawson Springs). They breezed by the Heritage Christian Academy Warriors to the tune of 93-62 on Saturday. The Panthers pushed the score to 74-44 by the end of the third, a deficit the Warriors had little chance of recovering from.

Dawson Springs had a senior duo take command as Montgomery Johnston shot 5-for-9 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 36 points and 11 boards and Rex Blue went 10 for 22 on his way to 26 points in addition to eight rebounds and seven assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Johnston has scored all season. Jaybird Plunkette was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 11 boards.

Dawson Springs was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Dawson Springs pushed their record up to 13-9 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.6 points per game. As for Heritage Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-11.

Coincidentally, Dawson Springs and Heritage Christian Academy will both be playing Crittenden County the next time they take the court. Heritage Christian Academy will head out to face Crittenden County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Dawson Springs will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
