Softball Recap: Pineville Takes a Loss

Pineville extended their losing streak to seven on Monday, dropping them down to 11-15. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Corbin Redhounds. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Redhounds this season, with their most recent loss being a 3-2 defeat two weeks ago.

Rachel Howard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 16 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kameran Evans was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

As for Corbin, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 games. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-19 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games.

On Corbin's side, they saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lydia King, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

As of now, neither Pineville nor the Redhounds have any future games scheduled.
