Preview: Rainier Christian Mustangs vs. Crosspoint Warriors
The Rainier Christian Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Crosspoint Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Rainier Christian scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 56-11 win over Concordia Christian Academy. The win was just what Rainier Christian needed coming off of a 65-30 defeat in their prior contest.
Rainier Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gracie Cushman, who scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cushman has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Molly Ramey, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Crosspoint put the finishing touches on their 12th blowout victory of the season on Friday. They breezed by Summit Classical Christian School on the road to the tune of 51-7. Winning may never get old, but Crosspoint sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Crosspoint can attribute much of their success to Riya Tobosa, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds, and Momoyo Iwata, who scored six points along with seven steals and five assists. Tobosa hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was Katy Kuske, who scored six points along with four steals.
Rainier Christian's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Crosspoint, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season.
Rainier Christian was taken down by Crosspoint 49-12 in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Rainier Christian was down 28-7.
