Football Game Preview: Kings Christian Crusaders vs. Laton Mustangs

Kings Christian is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Laton is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Crusaders will take on the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Kings Christian has given up an average of 30.7 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Kings Christian had been on a five-game streak of scoring at least 31 points, but Alpaugh put an end to it last Friday. The Crusaders took a blow against the Buffalos, falling 40-13. The matchup marked the Crusaders' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Laton never let their opponents score on Saturday. They breezed past Legacy Christian Academy to the tune of 49-0. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won six contests by 21 points or more so far this season.

Kings Christian better keep an eye on Andre Zapien. He was instrumental in Laton's win, rushing for 69 yards and three scores, while also catching one TD. Zapien also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up a sack and making 11 total tackles (4.0 for loss). Isaac Roman was in the mix too, providing Laton with one touchdown.

Laton's win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Kings Christian, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-2.

Kings Christian was dealt a bruising 61-0 loss at the hands of Laton in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Thankfully for the Crusaders, Jaythan Garcia (who threw for zero yards and four TDs while completing 73.3% of his passes, and also punched in one rushing score) won't be suiting up this time.
