Basketball Recap: Keys Gate Piles Up the Points Against Calvary Christian Academy

On Friday, everything came up roses for the Keys Gate Knights against the Calvary Christian Academy Eagles as the team secured a 69-33 victory. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 23 points or more this season.

Keys Gate got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Essence Deleon out in front who went 11 of 21 on her way to 23 points in addition to six assists and three steals. Deleon is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniella Pujadas, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards.

Deleon wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Keys Gate was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Calvary Christian Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taryn Wakefield, who posted 15 points. Another player making a difference was Laynie Redman, who had nine points.

Keys Gate has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.8 points per game. As for Calvary Christian Academy, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

Keys Gate didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 55-39 loss against Cypress Bay on the 4th. As for Calvary Christian Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 41-37 defeat against Coral Springs Charter on the 4th.
