Basketball Recap: Pinon Comes Up Short

Pinon lost against Round Valley back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Pinon Eagles took a 50-33 bruising from the Round Valley Elks.

Avril Sage was Pinon's leading scorer, having posted nine points. Hanka Benally held things down on the boards with seven rebounds. Shanna Begaye took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with five assists.

Leading Round Valley to victory were Addison Poston and Kelci Walker. Poston dropped a double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds, while Walker almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine boards. Poston is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last 13 games she's played. Hannah Clark was another key player, putting up nine points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Pinon's defeat dropped their record down to 11-15. As for Round Valley, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-10 record this season.

Pinon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Round Valley, they have already played their next contest, a 55-48 victory against Valley on the 7th.
